Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How can I increase the chances of my question being answered on the show?

Here's how in order from best to least:
1)  Skype Voicemail (FREE)  -  Go to Skype.com, download the FREE Skype app, create a FREE account and leave a FREE voicemail for user PhotoPodcast.  -  Please be brief.  Long questions won't make it on the show.

2)  Attach an easy to understand audio file to an email and send to: photopodcast [at] gmail.com  -  Please be brief.

3)  Ask your question on our Twitter account (@photopodast) - Twitter.com/PhotoPodcast  -  Only 140 characters...now that's brief.   :)

4)  Email as at: photopodcast [at] gmail.com  -  Keep it brief please.  Short emails have a better chance of making it on the show.

Q. Why don't you allow blog comments here on 1eyeclosed.com?

There are a few reasons, not the least of which is I simply don't have the time to moderate comments.  In a perfect world there'd be no spammers or ill-willed people who have nothing better to do than ruin things for everyone else.  I'd much rather spend my time shooting than dealing with these ninnies.

Need to communicate with us?

Feel free to drop us an email at: photopodcast [at] gmail.com

Due to the volume of emails we receive it may take awhile to get back to you so please be patient.  If you've got a question you'd like answered on the show, please keep it as brief as possible while still providing enough info to properly address your question.

Q. What camera do you use?

I use the incredible full-frame Nikon D700.

Why the D700 and not the D3 you ask?  Besides being thousands of dollars cheaper, it had features the D3 lacked.  The D700 lacks an integrated grip and thus the camera can get into spots the D3 cannot.  Need a grip?  Pop on the MB-D10.  It also has dust removal...the D3 does not.  The pop-up flash (while rarely, if ever, used) can be used in a pinch for fill flash or it can control other speedlights.  All desirable features to a photojournalist.

Q. What lens is on your D700's the most?

That would be the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G AF-S VR ED-IF.  It's an incredibly sharp, responsive, beautiful lens.  It's a workhorse and part of every pro's bag.
