Be in the moment

Too often photographers get caught up in what's going on and miss out on opportunities that present themselves.  Often people will ask you questions and take you out of the moment. While it's important to represent yourself and your organization well (and socializing is part of that), don't allow someone to get you off your game.

Take a step back metaphorically and "be in the moment". In doing so you tend to see shots you were missing otherwise.  As with police departments and the military, if you can train out the tendency to have tunnel vision you'll see shots you were missing. There's often action happening all around you so be conscious of that. This applies to many situations. It doesn't matter if you're shooting an event or a sporting event.  Be in the moment and pick up those shots.
